Ans.(1)Buddha taught people to be kind and to respect the lives of others , including animals .
(2) He also taught that life is full of sufferings and unhappiness which are caused because we have cravings and desires.
(3) He believed that the results of our actions whether good or bad, affect us both in this life and the next .

Q2 .What were the questions that upanishadic thinkers wanted to answer ?
Ans.(1)Some thinkers wanted to know why sacrifices should be performed .
(2)  Some thinkers wanted to know about life after death.
(3)  Some thinkers felt that there was something permanent in the universe that would last even after death.

Q3 .What were the main teachings of the Mahavira?
Ans. (1) Mahavira taught that men and women who wished to know the truth must leave their homes.
(2) He thought that people must follow the rules of ahinsa , which means not hurting or killing living beings .
(3)According to him the jains must lead simple life by begging for food .
(4)He taught that people must observe celibacy .

Q4.Why do you think Anagha ‘s mother wanted her to know the story of Buddha ?
Ans. Anaghas’ mother wanted her to know the story of Buddha because the Buddha , the founder of Buddhism was a great man . Children were going to Varanasi , where Sanchi Stupa at Sarnath was build to mark the place where Buddha first taught his message . So , Anagha ’s mother wanted her to know the story of Buddha and to see Sarnath .
